Yes, we regularly fit stairlifts in narrow terraced houses in Greater Manchester. If your stairs have around 26-28cm of clear width, a slimline straight stairlift is often suitable. Our surveyor checks every detail, including handrails and doorways, to make sure a stairlift will work safely. We use compact rails and a fold-flat seat and footrest so the staircase stays as clear as possible for other family members. When not in use, the seat, arms and footrest fold back against the wall to reduce the impact on your hallway and landing. We also look at the space at the top and bottom of the stairs, and can often fit parking points so the chair stops out of the way. If a standard stairlift is not suitable, we will explain why and talk through any alternatives, with no pressure.
